What We Believe

"What We Believe" pages often raise more questions than they answer. They tend to be academic and appeal to our knowledge of doctrine instead of practical and focused on our faith. It would be easy to put together a few statements ripped from another church's website and call it good but that wouldn't be us.

Of course, the danger is not clearly defining in 8 to 10 statements what we believe about this, this, and that plays into some people's fears and brings about accusations that we don't believe anything. Frankly, we believe that God is way too big and too awesome to describe what we believe about him in a two-sentence statement. So instead of a list of bullet points, let us put it in a nutshell for you:

A long time ago God created this big blue marble we call Earth and put human beings on it to manage it. Instead of trusting God, mankind decided to do it their own way and rebelled against their creator. This rebellion ultimately brought about death. In his amazingly infinite love, mercy, and grace, God then sought to bring mankind back to him. In his ultimate act of love, God sent his Son, Jesus, to be the one to pay the price for mankind's rebellion and bring life to desperately broken people. When accepted, this act makes it possible for a person to be right with God. His Spirit empowers those who follow Christ to be healed from their brokenness and enjoy new life. New life should in turn bring about new life as we help others know of God's plan to win them back.
